Reformed – appreciate your comment. I do not see in scripture the idea of apostles passing on authority to spiritual successors. A clear reading of reveals there were more than the 12 original apostles mentioned. In my humble opinion, part of this problem is based on a misunderstanding of the concept of apostolic. (which i admit is not even a bible word). tradition and the question of apostolic authority are definitely related.

the Reformed position of _sola Scriptura_ is based on the doctrine that the office of apostle ceased after the closing of the canon of Scripture in the first century.

Good stuff bro to chew on, I really like the following statement you made…

“Traditions create a biased paradigm that is used to filter scripture.”

This is powerful and so very true; if we change the “filter” [our paradigms] God will give us the appropriate oil [anointing: different oils for different seasons /uses] to endure the new season it is through this process that our Traditions begin to change and thus better aligning ourselves to our ultimate destination.

If you change the filter [our paradigms] you got to change the oil [former season’s unction] which in turn changes the performance of the vehicle [us and our ministries].

While i do not claim to have the final answer to Apostolic Restoration, i see 2 items clearly in the way.
1) Local Assembly authority structure – the Word clearly illustrates leadership from “Elders “Plural”", never “Pastor “Singular”", yet we do it “out way” and expect The Lord Jesus to bless…
2) Hidding Money , Hidding church income of any source, – many Apostolic Pastors seem to think they are “exempt” from “avoiding all apperarance of evil” even with the “root of all evil’, while demanding all others stick to “avoiding all apperarance of evil” with every “little thing”, the hypocracy is thick here… Leaving Gods kingdom with a poor image in the eyes of those we want to save. We expect people to “come” and “pay up and shut up” – this “cult like practice” harpoons our evangelism efforts. We should be totally open “on the spending side”, not only with those within, but also those without.. All Church expenditures should be detailed, and palced on Church Web Sites, showing our $$ practice to be “above reproach” to all those we claim to be concerned about…
